How Much Did Your Lawyer Cost Our Family Farm Estate? - Ron Hanson, UNL

This session will focus on the questions that must be addressed when developing a plan for farm business ownership succession. If these issues are not discussed and resolved within the family, it could end up costing the family a lot of legal costs and lawyer fees.

Wills and Trusts-The Basics of the Planning Process - Roger McEowen, ISU

Roger will discuss the basics of gathering data, summarizing assets and liabilities, and then looking at the basic elements and process of writing a will or setting up a trust.

Planning for the Next Ranching Generation - Panel Discussion

This session will be a ranch producer panel moderated by Calvin Adams (Mitchell county, KS) and Cade Rensink (Ottawa county, KS). Focus will be nonfamily and family member issues regarding ranch ownership transfer.

FamilyTALK: Making it Work - Charlotte Shoup Olson, KSU

Families who live and farm together have challenges other families don’t face. While this provides an opportunity to build closeness, it can also create stress and conflict. The program will explore ways in which life can be made easier on the farm by everyone using good communication skills.

Charitable Giving - Gordon Dowell, KSU

You can have it all! Explore the options to reduce tax liabilities, enjoy lifetime income, or transfer wealth to heirs all while creating a legacy through any local charitable organization.

What if the “What If” Actually Happens to Your Family? - Ron Hanson, UNL

This session will share the “what if situations” that most families avoid discussing (or pretend will never happen). Developing a vision for the future of the business that is shared by all family members involved is needed for a successful transition of farm ownership when the “what if” happens.

Estate Planning-Temporary Certainty - Roger McEowen, ISU
Roger will discuss the retroactive reinstatement of federal estate tax for 2010; the election out of the estate tax for 2010; income tax basis; filing requirements; portability; and basic planning concepts for Estate Planning.

Continuing Your Family Farm Legacy: Time for Your Questions - Ron Hanson, UNL
The entire process for mapping out a succession plan can be an overwhelming task. This session will address your questions & outline the necessary steps to begin the process to work though stressful issues in a positive manner.

Summer Ranch and Range Internship - Cloud County Community College
CCCC is partnering with the Kansas Ranch and Range Management Internship Program to train the next generation of ranchers. The internship is a
hands on, one-on-one experience with ranch mentors to create sustainable ranches for the 21st century. Learn more about this new and exciting program and how to participate at CCCC during this session.

Can Junior Really Come Home to the Farm? (Farm Record Analysis) - Kevin Herbel, KSU
Kevin will review some NC KS Farm Mgt trends and will look at the basics of analyzing farm records. Participants will then be led through the steps to determine just what changes and/or growth must occur in order bring another family or non-family person into the operation.
