Frequently Asked Questions
What is MAST?
MAST (Management, Analysis, & Strategic Thinking) is an interactive learning program designed for agricultural producers and agribusiness professionals to enhance and strengthen their farm management skills and create a sustainable vision for their agribusiness.  The hybrid on-campus and computer-based program covers a variety of relevant topics in agriculture today.

Who attends MAST?
MAST participants come from a variety of backgrounds and locations.  We serve farm and ranch managers from locations throughout the Midwest, as well as agribusiness professionals such as Ag lenders, cooperative professionals, and others who work closely with the production agriculture sector.  Each year, we add a variety of professionals to our MAST alumni network, ensuring the conversation and learning continues beyond the close of your program year.

When and where is the program held?
The program consists of two on-campus sessions each year (held in November and February respectively) that take place at the K-State Alumni Center.  The remainder of the curriculum is recorded for you and provided on a USB Flash Drive so that you can view and learn when and where it is most convenient for you.  For the current program year’s schedule, please check out our registration page.

How much does MAST cost (and what am I getting for my registration fee)?
The registration fee for MAST covers meals, parking, and on-site laptop rentals at our on-campus sessions; the materials you walk away with, including a USB Flash Drive loaded with curriculum and program content; your access to our expert faculty; and your inclusion in the MAST peer network.  The program is priced at $1,250/person or $1,100/person for two or more participants from the same business.

Are there any scholarships available?
Many of our participants are often able to secure a sponsorship with their local Farm Credit office or lending institution to help supplement the program costs.  We encourage you to talk to your lender.  There is information available for them on our sponsors page.

What will I get out of the program?
The MAST program benefits are long-lasting.  Not only do you learn the tried and true best practices in farm management, but our expert faculty also prepare sessions and recordings that deal with emerging trends and topics within the industry.  Additionally, the peer network that you develop will become an important asset to your farm, ranch, or agribusiness as you consult and discuss challenges and successes with these individuals.

What do I need to bring to the on-campus sessions?
We suggest bringing pen and paper to take notes.  Additionally, a laptop computer will be required during the on-campus sessions.  If you do not have access to a laptop computer, we can make arrangements for you to rent one out for the on-campus sessions.  Please contact us to make these arrangements.

Where can I park during the on-campus sessions?
We will send you a visitor parking permit that is valid at the K-State Alumni Center, which has parking lots directly adjacent to it on both its east and west sides.  You will need to place the permit on your dash and observe the rules listed on the permit.

Where should I stay in Manhattan during the on-campus sessions?
Participants will need to make arrangements for their own hotel accommodations during the on-campus session, but we have compiled a list of available options in the Manhattan area below for your convenience.  You can also view these hotels on a map.
