FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.   Can you take credit cards if I call my registration in over the phone?

A. Yes!  We will be able to accept phone reservations if you call us at 620-431-1530.

Q.  What kinds of businesses will be represented at the conference?

A.  Some businesses attending this conference will have a few employees--some will have a few hundred.  The audience will include producers from farms, ranches, dairies, swine operations, feedlots, agribusinesses and the horticulture industry.

The conference is designed so that these groups may learn from each other.  One of the most frequent compliments we received after each of our past conferences was that the attendees enjoyed interacting with producers in other industries.  The exchange of ideas across business size, type, and industry is a tool on which this conference strives to capitalize .

Q.  Who would benefit from attending the conference?

A.  We would encourage a business to send a cross-section of its employees, from owners to mid-level managers.  There will be breakout sessions which will focus on topics specific to each group.   The people who will benefit most from attending this conference are the people who are committed to the success of the business and are willing take these lessons home and share them with their coworkers.

Q.  Is there a discount for sending a group of people from a business?

A. Yes.  We will be offering group discounts.  Details on this program are available on our registration information page.

Q.  Do I have to be from Kansas to attend?

A. Absolutely not.  In previous years we've had every region of the country represented.  This resulted in a lot of diversity and contributed to the success of the conference.  K-State Research and Extension is proud to offer this event to agricultural producers everywhere.

Q.  What will the dress code be?

A.  The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and at-ease.  The phrase "business casual" could probably best describe what we have seen at past conferences.  But be warned, conference rooms can be very hard to keep at a desirable temperature, so you might want to pack a sweater or light jacket.

Q.  Should I bring my family?

A.  Participants will be very busy during the conference.  There will be little free time to take off and do things with your family.  If you feel they would enjoy going off without you or you would like to take advantage of the conference rate with the hotel and stay an extra few days, this could be an excellent vacation.

Q.  Where should I fly to and will I need to rent a car?

A. You should arrange to fly into the Kansas City International airport, and the Marriott is located less than a mile away with a complimentary shuttle running to and from the hotel.

Q.  If I register for the conference and then cannot make it, can I get a refund or send someone else in my place?

A. We will be providing refunds to individuals who cancel before the cut-off date listed on the registration information page.  If you would like to send someone in your place, you may make that substitution at any time.

Q.  If I cannot attend, can I order a copy of the conference proceedings?

A. We will be ordering extra copies of the proceedings for just this purpose.  Please call 620-431-1530 or send us an email: kwalters@oznet.ksu.edu to order your copy.

These are the answers to the questions we get most frequently.  If you have a question for us, please call 620-431-1530 or send us an email: sfoglema@oznet.ksu.edu.
