Kansas 2024/2025 ARC-CO Wheat Payment Rates and Fall Crop Estimates
A paper explaining these payments can be found HERE.
May 31st was the completion of the 2024/2025 Marketing Year for wheat and the final Marketing Year Average price was recently announced at $5.52 per bushel. This is $0.02 above the effective reference price of $5.50 per bushel for the 2024 wheat crop, so no Price Loss Coverage (PLC) will be made. However, because of drought conditions in Kansas in 2024, many counties particularly in the central areas of Kansas will have significant Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC)-County Payments.
Many county yields that will be used to calculate ARC-County payments for corn, grain sorghum and soybeans were also recently released by FSA. The Marketing Year for these crops will not conclude until the end of August with official prices released at the end of September. Current estimates HERE show corn at $4.29 per bushel, soybeans $10.03, and grain sorghum at $4.10. These prices would also be above effective reference prices for 2024, so no PLC payments would be made. Again, many counties will have ARC payments in Kansas because of drought conditions in 2024.
Note that payments are on a per acre basis and will be made on 85% of a farm’s base acres in that commodity. Payment will occur in October from FSA.
